For those who don't know, Banksy is a political "anonymous" famous artist from the UK. Who makes statement pieces that appear in places all over the world. It is not confirmed who he is but there is much speculation. My favourite rumour is that he is Robert Dėl Naja from Massive attack, but it's more likely to be some guy called Robin... I'll let you educate yourselves on this one.

The box
Comes in a standard type of box but the quality is really really good, a little more durable than most standard tarot boxes and a really smooth finish. Amazing quality, you absolutely get what you pay for.

It comes at you with the attitude you'd expect from a Banksy Tarot, no fucks to give, so deal with it! And hey let's face it, it needs to be in your face, Banksy is a well renowned artist and his work carries an anti establishment, anti war, anti capitalist message and reputation so anything carrying his name needs to be the same standard. In my humble opinion.

Comes with a little guide book
Its a bit of a nothing book to be honest

They come in this little bag

Cards
Card quality is as smooth and easy to shuffle as the quality of the box indicates, also I'm a Magpie..... I like shiny things

Shiny

That photo does not do the cards any justice at all, the red gilding is really gorgeous and adds a nice finishing touch.

Card stock is superb, smooth, silky and the backs also carry the attention to detail. 10/10

As you can see the red detail continues through and I appreciate this touch. When studying the Principles of design, repetition is one of the aspects that create a harmonious piece. I appreciate the small things.

There are many poignant Archetypes

I laughed when i saw this

I admit this is not my favourite World, although I resonate with the imagery sometimes.

I feel like this is a deliberate evolution from the fool

The Minor Arcana has changed
Buckets - Cups
Spray - Swords
Brushes - Wands
Stencils - Pentacles

The Royals of the Suits have also changed from Page, Prince etc..

I feel these are good choices considering the theme of the Suit (Cups)

Most of the cards in the suits are the same as the Major Arcana, in the sense that they are all thought provoking.

Ace of spray cans /swords

So let's get to my most hated card, the 10 of swords (Spray Cans)

Apt.

Also Apt

In Conclusion
The Tarot Banksy is not for the faint hearted, this is no light worker unicorn mermaid love and light deck.
It is a thought provoking deck, and i appreciate the effort it would have taken the Author to research the catalogue and line up the images with the right ones in the Tarot. Although I do question if it's appropriate for certain types of readings, I wouldn't want to push it on a vulnerable person who's struggling with their mental health.

Also the effort gone into making sure it's a quality deck, it's expensive because it's self published but goes to show how much authors need to spend if they do something away from a big publisher.

Buuuuuut my criticism here is the lack of originality, because let's be straight about it. The author hasn't commissioned the artist, they've simply taken the art of a well known artists and used the name to make a Tarot and tap into the Cartomancy market.
All for profit.

If you don't mind that, and this work resonates with you. Then this is a good deck, but only because it's very well executed. To be honest it's not for me

Hype.
Sort of

  1. Quite thought-provoking! I do see the focus on the negative here—helpful for a resistant Seeker perhaps? Such as myself? I’d say this is a winner, if only for the Banksy art!

Vivid Spirit Tarot - A very painful ordeal

Hey Folk This review is a little different to my normal reviews, in the sense that I don't actually have the deck I want to review.  From what I thought would simply be an easy process, turned into an absolute fucking knigtmare which is still on going.  So i pre-ordered this deck back in August 2020 Which was meant to be released April 2021. No issue here I've pre-ordered before.  I said "NO ISSUE"..... Which are the famous last words... Then a few months later I noticed that the listing had gone, no pic nothing.  Which is unusual for Etsy because with Pre-Orders the listing stays. I was a little worried about this so I contacted them via email and the creator got straight back to me via Etsy Messenger.  Absolutely no issue, great communication and I was happy with that.  Time went on and I realised that my old surname was still on the order and it was close to printing, so I contacted them.  ...

Aquarian Tarot

Title: Aquarian Tarot Artist: David Palladini Price Range: £14 / $19 - £19 / $29 Dimensions: 6.99 x 3.18 x 10.16 cm Publisher: US Games Date: Originally published 1970 Style: Art Nouveau & Art Deco Hey folk, it's been a hot minute hasn't it!! My apologies things are a little bit intense my end so my review writing has had to slow down for the meantime. Heavy studying to become a qualified teacher, and unfortunately the loss of my best friend Katherine of 22 years.  So I'm trying to get back to normal now, please bear with me. Thank you for staying and to my new followers thank you for joining. So, I LOVE Art Nouveau and Art Deco. They're both two of my favourite art styles, with their thick lines and definitive (Sometimes dramatic) styles. Naturally I've got my eye on a few different decks, Aquarian was one of them!  Whilst I'm always on the hunt for Diverse decks, I still appreciate the art of certain times because I understand the world was wha...

The Rider Waite - Centennial Edition

Title: The Rider Waite Alt Names: Smith-Waite,  Waite-Smith ,  Rider-Waite-Smith ,  Rider tarot deck Artist: Pamela Coleman Smith, commissioned by Mystic Arthur Edward Waite.  Dimensions: Various  Publisher: Various Date: 1909 Style: Ye Olde  Hype or Drag: Ye Olde HYPE  Google stock photo The most popular deck The Rider Smith-Waite is considered the blue print deck, the ultimate deck. It is very popular and it is every fucking where but is it the best deck? A little History A lot of cards on the market are inspired by this deck, almost all use similar imagery to convey the meanings associated with the deck. Although it IS the Blueprint for a lot of decks it was ONLY actually designed in 1909. Which means it's still relatively new when you consider that the court cards were being used as tarot from 1440 onwards, the Marseilles tarot (which is an even older blueprint), not the Smith-Waite. If we want to go back further there is evidence ...
